INSAT Celebrates Cinema with ICC 2024
The Institut National des Sciences Appliquées et de Technologie (INSAT) will host the sixth edition of its convention (ICC) on December 11, 2024. Organized by the dedicated Club INSAT Ciné Radio, this annual festival has become a hallmark event, fostering creative expression and cultural engagement among students.
The Role of Club CinéRadio
Club CinéRadio serves as INSAT’s main cultural and event-organizing unit. Since its inception, the club has been dedicated to making artistic activities more accessible to students and the wider community. It provides a space for members and students to express their creativity and deepen their passions. Known for organizing significant events like JAM, Unplugged, Ramadan Sessions, and now in its sixth edition, the ICC, the club has established itself as a vital part of the institute’s cultural fabric.
The Essence of ICC
The ICC aims to be a nurturing ground for all audiovisual cinematic initiatives, allowing students to realize their artistic ambitions. Over its five previous editions, the ICC has showcased amateur works that are rarely seen locally, providing these works with a diverse audience.
Objectives of ICC
- Creating a Memorable Cultural Event: The ICC seeks to organize a high-quality cultural event that offers an educational and entertaining experience. This goal strengthens the ICC’s reputation as a must-attend event for cinema enthusiasts.
- Encouraging Artistic Creation: The festival motivates beginners to delve into filmmaking with whatever resources they have, promoting an accessible and democratic approach to film production.
- Raising Awareness of Tunisian Amateur Cinema: By exposing audiences, especially young students, to the diversity and richness of Tunisian amateur cinema, the ICC encourages greater appreciation of local productions.
- Fostering Exchange of Ideas: The ICC creates an environment conducive to idea exchange and discussion through debates and meetings, allowing amateur filmmakers to share their experiences and passion for cinema.
Goals and Vision
The primary aim of the ICC is to create a memorable cultural event that is both educational and entertaining. By encouraging beginners to engage in filmmaking with accessible resources, the festival promotes an inclusive approach to cinematic production. It also seeks to highlight the diversity and richness of Tunisian amateur cinema, fostering a deeper appreciation for local productions among students and the general public.
A Look Back at Previous Editions
First Edition (2018): The inaugural ICC on November 28, 2018, was a landmark in Tunisian amateur cinema. It featured a free-theme competition, film screenings, debates, and an art exhibition. A significant highlight was the display of a rare carbon arc projector loaned by filmmaker Mohamed Chellouf.
Second Edition (2019): This edition included a national competition, an exhibition of cinematic equipment, and engaging debates. Masterclasses and an award ceremony further enriched the event.
Third Edition (2021): Post-COVID, the ICC returned with a minimalist theme, focusing on artistic exhibitions and debates. The festival showcased 30 films, each followed by discussions, and introduced a printed journal capturing interviews and insights.
Fourth Edition (2022): Spanning two days, this edition featured 32 films and an extensive art exhibition. The screening of “Sous les figues” by Erige Shiri was a highlight.
Fifth Edition (2023): This edition continued to emphasize interaction, with 20 film screenings and lively debates. The event concluded with a performance by the CinéRadio Band and a speech by Hichem Farhat, highlighting the festival’s role in supporting emerging artistic talent.
